Dancing Landscapes (Drop In)

with
Chloe

Free your body

Dancing Landscapes is an embodied exploration guided by movement artist, Chloe. A space to let the body speak before the mind.

Get to know your body deeper by understanding, expanding, and strengthening your range of motion. We'll work with the intention to feel safe and free in your body, using movement as a gateway. You'll begin with a gentle awareness practice, before opening your body through movement, using primal yet accessible prompts to activate spatial awareness. The practice then leads you into guided improvisation, deepening both your internal and external connections.

All levels, abilities, and bodies are welcome. This is a drop-in single session.

Duration: 75 mins

Slow + Sound (Gong Meditation)

with
Serene

Ease in, flow out with a gong meditation

We'll begin with gentle movements/postures and breathing exercises, based on the Five Elements Theory of Chinese Metaphysics, so as to help you connect with your qi (life force).

After you've eased into the space, experience a live gong meditation that will both uplift and restore your spirits. Let the vibrations relax your body and peel away layers of your mind to reveal the depth of heart and vastness of being. Suitable for all levels.

Duration: 90 mins

October's Theme: Fluid Spine

Dancing Landscapes is an embodied exploration guided by movement artist, Chloe. A space to let the body speak before the mind.

Working with the theme Fluid Spine, this four-part series is for those interested in a progressive way to deepen your relationship with your body and expand your range of motion. Fluid Spine is focused on sourcing movement from the midline and how that affects the rest of the body, inviting fluidity with a structured practice of primal movement prompts, before leading into free improvisation.

Each session begins with internal or bodily sensing, leading into spatial or external awareness, and connecting both internal and external worlds through movement, connection, and guided embodied exploration.

All levels, abilities, and bodies are welcome. Please ensure that you are able to attend all classes, as makeup sessions are not available.

Intro to Wim Hof Method

with
Chun

“Cold is a stressor, so if you are able to get into the cold and control your body’s response to it, you will be able to control stress.” —Wim Hof

Using “cold, hard nature” as his teacher, Wim Hof has empowered himself to control his breathing, heart rate, and blood circulation, and to withstand extreme temperatures.

Discover the benefits of his method for yourself, and learn to optimise your body and mind. Chun, a Wim Hof certified instructor, will guide you through the breathwork techniques and cold immersion. We will begin in-studio before heading outdoors for the ice bath, at our building's ground level.

Who is this workshop for?

All levels, beginners are welcome. This workshop requires a basic level of health. Out of precaution, please avoid participating during pregnancy, or if you are epileptic. People with cardiovascular issues or any serious health conditions should always consult a medical professional before starting the Wim Hof Method.

Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

with
Danica

Befriend your mind

Is stress getting the best of you? Modern life places a lot of pressure on us, and most of us were never really taught how to manage stress and anxiety. Wouldn't it be nice if we could find a natural stability, resilience, and clarity amongst the chaos?

Mindfulness is a useful tool to help you build self-awareness and to draw more effectively on your capabilities. Discover how you can develop your mindset and practice with Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, an eight-week foundational course.

You will learn a range of mindfulness practices to cultivate an observant, accepting and compassionate stance towards your internal experiences and how to apply this to immediate life challenges.

Schedule

Every Sunday, 10 October to 28 November. Each session is 2.5 hours, from 10:00am to 12:30pm. The course also includes an extra session—Day of MIndfulness, a silent retreat on 13 Nov, 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Kindly note that there are no makeup sessions available. Please ensure that you can attend all or at least six out of the eight sessions. The course facilitator will provide remote guidance for the missed lessons, if needed.

What does MBSR involve?

  •
an individual phone interview, and ongoing support from your teacher
  • mindfulness meditation and body awareness training

  • an exploration of your own patterns and how to transform them
  • good conversations about things that matter
  • scientific rationale for the practice

  • a 100 page course book

Altered States is a safe space intended to raise inner awareness, uplift spirits and facilitate meaningful conversations.
